Preface:
My girls, my friends. They are the escape I get when I've had a tough day at work or during the times that I struggled so hard that I am judging myself as a parent. They are the people who, no matter what, will be there in a blink of an eye to give me advice, a laugh or even a stiff drink when happiness does not last. Soul sister, friend for life, chica, ride or die, BFF, homegirl. Whatever you called them, I've got them and it's been one heck of a year not being able to see them in person.
With Halloween being my favorite holiday; typically the girls and I get up to no good. We've done the clubs, house parties and now with the kids; even trick-or-treating. This year it's up in the air, what to do? We are all keeping a distance, but still doing a virtual ghouls night in! For the October tablescape, I draw my inspiration from my lovely friends, who, through this last seven, eight, nine months; have kept me going. I thank them for keeping the inner child in me alive while still reminding me that I'm a mom.

She's so fine she can't be beat
She's got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire"

Channel what brings you happiness
Create a romantic tablescape for your ghouls night or Thanksgiving dinner by decorating your table with blush, champagne, sage and pops of ruby and pink. Using delicate colors will create an ambiance perfect for a sophisticated dinner party for your gourd-geous gals! This table can also transition to a be a dreamy set up for thanksgiving too! Who doesn't want to get two uses out of one table? For the October tablescape, I channeled a few things that bring me happiness and let that dictate the color palette.
Pink: Is thought to have a calming effect and provide balance to a room and event. It also brings in the feminine reminder of friends and brings a feeling of compassion and support.
Champagne: Tends to bring thoughts of joy and happiness since people associate it to the bubbly beverage which is served during happy occasions. I often go to brunch with my girls and I thought it fitting to use this color.
Sage: People love or hate this color depending on their experience. For most people it will evoke the sense of peace and nature. This color was added to bring a little of the outdoors in to the tablescape. Sage also happens to be a very "in" color for Fall this year. So sage rage on!
Ruby: is associate to high self-esteem, intuition and wisdom and can also be associate to power. Seeing that friends give back your self esteem, I added this as an accent color to bring the reminder that through everything going on we are all doing our best.
What to add to the table
Setting your table has a lot to do with what you will be serving your guests. Our table is set for a two-course meal: appetizers and dinner.
Stemware: Not knowing what your guests might want to drink is a bit of a challenge when selecting stemware. These gorgeous goblets can house either wine or champagne as their structure is defined for either. More importantly have water glasses set aside if friends may not be drinking.
Plates: For each plate serving, a circular rustic burlap mat is used to frame the stack of plates. Next is a delicate baby pink charger with gold accents to house the dinner and salad plate. Add a personal touch by leaving a piece of Baby's Breath flower on each plate. The symbol of Baby's Breath is everlasting love and innocence. This can be a gentle reminder to friends about how much they mean to you.
Cutlery: Sparkling gold spoons, knifes and forks frame the plate bringing the sense of extravagance and compassion to the table.
Linens: A neutral taupe table linen with a dumask print is draped across the table. To provide texture and contrast the table napkins are folded neatly in a dark champagne tone.
DIY Centerpiece
There's nothing better than doing something yourself for less cost and to your taste. These white Baby's Breath and Hydrangea flowers were purchased at Trader Joes. Using a crystal Mikasa Trifle Dish from my wedding registry, I created the most elegant of centerpieces. I placed a floral foam brick inside the dish and arranged the Hydrangea flowers first and filled in the spaces with Baby's Breath. To enhance the flower arrangement, I took a beautiful velvet pumpkin wreath to encase the bottom of the dish.
Accessories
Yes you can accessories your table! In fact this is where you pull in the elements of the theme or occasion. On the October tablescape, the small velvet pumpkins have been utilized to bring in the pink and ruby hues. Going with a velvet material provides a three-dimensional design to the table and the material also makes the colors vibrant. Neutral beige craft pumpkins were used to bring in the ambiance of Fall and Halloween. While pampas grass is controversial, I do love using it in fall tablescapes and interiors. Here faux grey and beige pampas grass is being utilized to frame the table as a runner. Last, a cheesecloth white table linen is draped throughout the table to provide balance to the table.
