Decorating tables this holiday season: for the young ones and the wise ones

This Christmas most of us will be at home or enjoying a intimate gathering with a few guests. Whichever arrangement you are going for; be sure to create an ambiance in your home that comforts you during the holiday season.

For the Adults

On the table:

This Christmas will be about upholding tradition and most likely creating a few new ones. My small family of four usually spends the holidays with family in Southern California, Central California or traveling. This year we are creating an intimate and rustic gathering for just the four of us in our home.

For the Christmas Tablescape; green, red and brown tones have been selected to indicate the sense of nature, love, and strength. These themes are fitting as we move into the ninth month of distancing and look to preserve these pillars in our home.

The centerpiece includes a floral arrangement of artichokes, Holly, pomegranate and pine with taper candles scattered about.

The plates are framed by a round wooden trunk charger. Each porcelain plate is set with a bowl, acorn and drizzle of pine.

The napkins are neutral and soft with small nutcrackers in the corner. Each serving is set with an amber goblet to house the guests drink of choice.

For the Children

On the kids table we gave those busy hands lots of things to feel, touch and see to keep them busy and entertained. Giving children their own space away from the adults will allow them the fun to discover food on their own and the ability to make a mess in their own space. Pro tip, put a table cloth under their table to collect all the crumbs that might fall!

On the kids table, plates and cups from Meri Meri, bows they can pay with or dress in their hair, and finger snacks and treats to nibble on! Around the table are candy balloons, their own Christmas tree with presents for each other and their very own gingerbread man!
